Business cards come in all shapes and sizes, and unique cards are always a good conversation starter. This card from NB Signs & Designs definitely falls under the creative category; it has an origami look about it, yet provides just enough necessary info to technically be a business card. And you thought your rounded corner business card was cool…

PFL Customer Project Showcase: Don’t worry, I won’t eat your book.
Bookmarks are a great multi-use piece: they ‘mark’ where you stopped reading, and can be a great way to get information in front of people. Colorful, interesting or unique bookmarks do catch the eye, and PFL customer Kathy Miller, of Chippy Chipmunk, definitely made a bookmark that stands out, by having you look eye-to-eye with a chipmunk, and find out about her books. Don’t worry, he won’t bite.
Summertime in Montana — Wild West Whitewater Rafting
When the sun is out, and the rivers are raging, there’s nothing like a white water raft trip on the Yellowstone River in Montana. It’s definitely a faster trip with the volume of water flowing due to spring runoff we are experiencing, and the high-water really adds to the fun.
We just did our 2010 PFL raft trip down the mighty Yellowstone. Thanks to one of our fantastic printing customers – Wild West Whitewater Rafting, in Gardiner, MT, our trips are pretty cost effective too. We do a ‘trade’ every year – we print their brochures and hotel rack cards in exchange for a few guided boats on the river.

Wild West has some wonderful river guides that make the trip even more enjoyable – they’ve got some great personalities that really add to the fun.
If you’re ever in the Yellowstone area, definitely give Wild West a try. The trips are very affordable and they are well worth every penny. I should also mention they do horseback rides too. Maybe PFL will do a company trail ride next year…how many horses would we need…

Assisting Hands Assist Each Other
I had the pleasure recently of participating in the annual retreat for one of Printingforless.com’s customers, the Assisting Hands Franchise system. Each year franchisees from all over the country come together to discuss their business, share strategies, introduce new initiatives, and enjoy each other’s company. What struck me about this retreat and the organization itself was two things:
First, how incredibly important it is to take time out of the busy life of running a business and spend time focusing on how to make the business better. Throughout the retreat, franchisees came together to discuss important strategies for growing their business and shared best practices to help each other succeed.
The second point was the overwhelming sense of family that was shared among the participants. Sharing activities from horseback riding to whitewater rafting, they worked together as one big team and treated me, a vendor to their organization, as if I was a part of that team. I was reminded by their generosity and fun-loving spirit that business doesn’t always have to be about business to be beneficial at an event like this.
Thanks to Assisting Hands for inviting me to be part of the experience and the reminder of the real meaning of running a business—the people.
PrintingForLess.com’s Newest Puppy
One of the best things about working at PFL is that we can bring our dogs to work. After loving everyone else’s dogs for almost three years, I finally convinced my husband to replace our dear departed Corgi, Sadie, with a new pup.
Allie started coming to work with me at 8 weeks old. She was a bit tentative at first, huddling under my chair, but now at 16 weeks she rules the Marketing room. She gets a steady stream of visitors, both human and dog, who want to take a stress break and play with her. She is starting to get a bit rambunctious so if anyone has any good tips on teaching “Come” and “No Bark” I would appreciate it. I wouldn’t want her to get banned for being a little trouble maker.
Our dog-friendly policy helps make PFL a great place to work. If you work for a dog-friendly company let’s hear from you. If not, why not try to implement it. We would be happy to send you our dog rules and policy!
Here is a list of the dogs that roam PFL on a daily basis:
Allie - Welsh Pembroke Corgi
Bear - Labrador Retriever/Weimaraner
Bodie – Malamute
Daisy – Labrador Retriever
Jax – Boston Terrier
Jessie – Border Collie
Louey - Boston Terrier
Lulu - Dachshund
Resi - Deutsch Drahthaar
Shelby – Springer Spaniel
