Social Media Manager Al Winmill describes Titan’s strategy as a consistent effort of prize driven contests and promotions that run simultaneously. This “gamification” results in a unique communication channel that Titan grows at an average rate of over 100 new fans per day.
Before Al began managing Titan’s social media in 2010, the company had about 600 fans – mostly friends and relatives of employees. With the 26K and growing fan base they currently have, the company is able to communicate more quickly and directly with customers. When new inventory is released or promoted, there’s an instant forum in effect that’s invaluable to the decision process.
Many of Titan’s facebook fans aren’t direct customers, but spouses or children of farmers. These folks get the word out on offers and products to the farmers who aren’t social savvy. The entire sharing aspect of social media is a key factor in the value of growing your facebook base.
