Are your outspoken employees suddenly tight-lipped? Have your passionate go-getters turned into go-with-the-flow types? If you've noticed your employees are little more hesitant about offering feedback and revealing problems they're experiencing on the
job -whether it's an angry customer, a process that no longer works, or a project that's headed for disaster - it might be time to take some valuable steps toward breaking the silence. In tough times like these, employees may feel that offering critical feedback is too risky and just don't want to rock the boat. This can lead to decreased productivity and disengaged employees.
Start by being honest. Nothing is more nerve-wracking than not knowing what is going on. Transparency can do wonders for instilling confidence and making employees feel that they are part of the team. Also, let your employees know how critical feedback and collaboration is to moving the company forward. Then celebrate good contributions that lead to improvements in fun and creative ways. By lightening the mood, your employees will feel more comfortable loosening up. Lastly, get engaged. Make sure you have open communication and regular one-on-one meetings to plug in to how each employee is feeling.
This month, we're providing tips to make your employees feel valued, introducing carbonless forms, and premiering a new customer YouTube video with some very furry actors.
