According to Greg Gianforte (www.bootstrapit.com ), almost 8 million entrepreneurs start their own businesses in this country every year. To build a great company, they need lots of things. Energy. Chutzpah. A really good idea. What they don't necessarily need is money. Instead of relying on outside resources or venture capital money, companies around the country are bootstrapping their way to profitability. The term bootstrapping originated from the German legend of Baron Munchausen  pulling himself out of the sea by his own bootstraps and has been used to describe businesses who commit to funding their growth through internal cash flow generated by sales of real-life customers. Bootstrapping is all about being creative, having an open mind and experimenting to see what sticks. Also key is thinking big, but spending small. Don't be afraid to barter with vendors, ask for referrals, network like crazy, trade for services and guerilla market to get the word out. Whether you are a brand new business or a seasoned vet, a little bootstrapping can go a long way.

This month's newsletter features PFL's custom printing techniques for putting more moxie in your marketing materials, the results of CEO Andrew Field's small business proposal survey and a chance to win $5,000 to help grow your business.

Small Business Boost
In last month's survey, we featured PFL CEO Andrew Field's small business stimulus proposal and asked you to vote on whether or not you thought it was a viable solution for helping small businesses. The majority voted 'yes' and several of you provided thoughtful comments. Here is what a few of you had to say...

"As a small business owner who has been struggling to figure out how

to afford another full-time worker, this plan makes more sense for me than anything else that
has been suggested...."

"This proposal keeps the right people working and makes the right people accountable..."

"Andrew Field for president!"
